Your expedition commences with an early morning pickup directly from your Cusco accommodations between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Boarding our comfortable private bus, you will travel toward the historic pre-Inca Funerary Towers of Ninamarca, situated at an altitude of 3,750 meters above sea level. After exploring these ancient chullpas, the group will make a brief stop in the scenic folkloric town of Paucartambo to admire its beautiful colonial bridge.
From there, ascend to the high Acjanaco sector at 4,000 meters elevation, which marks the official gateway to Manu National Park. You will then begin a fascinating descent through the mysterious cloud forest, an environment rich in primitive ferns, vibrant heliconias, and blooming wild orchids. During a hike through the forest, you will have the unique opportunity to witness the spectacular mating dance of the Andean Cock-of-the-rock. Keep your eyes open for trogons, quetzals, and with a bit of luck, the elusive spectacled bear. In the afternoon, arrive at a cozy, traditional lodge in the village of Pilcopata (550 meters above sea level), set apart from the town and equipped with mosquito nets, private bathrooms, and showers for a restful evening.
Enjoy a fresh, delicious breakfast at the lodge before taking a 45-minute bus ride down to the river port of Atalaya, located at 490 meters above sea level. Here, you will board a motorized boat for a scenic 30-minute journey downriver to Paititi Lodge. The boat ride offers an excellent vantage point for spotting various animals in their untouched natural environments. Upon arrival, check into your traditional accommodations, complete with private bathrooms and showers.
Following a satisfying lunch at the lodge, head out by boat in the afternoon toward Lake Machuwasi. Here, you will step onto a traditional local catamaran to quietly navigate the waters, observing an incredible variety of birds—including the unique hoatzin—alongside monkeys, reptiles, insects, and dwarf caimans. If fortune favors you, you may even spot capybaras along the banks. As darkness falls, you can choose to join an optional night trekking excursion to experience the jungle in the dark, before returning to the lodge for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Set out very early by boat to reach a local green parrot clay lick, a mineral-rich cliffside where you can observe three to four different species of parrots feeding in their natural habitat. After this vibrant natural spectacle, return by boat to embark on an insightful trek through the primary forest. The highlight of this walk is discovering an incredible giant tree, surrounded by opportunities to spot wild monkeys, birds, small reptiles, insects, and dwarf caimans.
In the afternoon, return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious lunch and unwind. When night falls, you will have another opportunity to participate in an optional night hike, allowing you to explore the jungle’s nocturnal environment from a completely different perspective. Spend your final night resting at the lodge, utilizing the private showers and bathrooms for maximum comfort.
Savor your final breakfast prepared by our professional cook in the heart of the Amazon. It is then time to say goodbye to the Paititi Lodge and board the boat back to the port of Atalaya. Your private bus will be waiting at the docks to begin the drive back to Cusco.
The return journey takes you once more through the majestic, enigmatic cloud forest, giving you a final chance to admire its landscapes and reflect on your unforgettable adventure. The expedition concludes with an evening arrival at your hotel in Cusco, estimated between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

EXCELLENT Based on 42 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Andrew RicklesVerified Nature, Fun, and Unforgettable Moments in Manu We took the 4-day tour to Manu with my family (there were 5 adults and 2 children), and I want to thank Terra Quechua Peru for making it so easy and special. From the transportation to the meals, everything was coordinated with great care. Every day brought a new surprise: jungle hikes, swimming in crystal-clear rivers, birdwatching, and even a night around the campfire where we shared stories with other travelers. The kids were fascinated by the insects and colorful birds. I never imagined the Peruvian Amazon would be so rich and vibrant. We felt safe at all times; the guides were very responsible and patient. A family experience we’ll always treasure!Posted on Tripadvisor Patrick SVerified Terra Quechua Peru made our family trip to Manu unforgettable We took a 5-day family trip to Manu, and honestly, it exceeded our expectations. The accommodations were better than we expected, and the organization was excellent at all times. You can tell they have experience and truly care about their guests. Besides being good Trekkers we are also lovers of Nature, it’s for that we decided to book again with Local Trekkers Peru to do a trip in the Manu National Park, we booked 4Days and 3Nigths and we had so much fun doing this trip, everything was very well arranged from the pick up at our hotel until return to our same hotel. The guide, food, lodges, bus, everything was very good, our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive with us we learned a lot about the jungle with him, our cook was good always providing us, with very good dishes, our bus driver was very attentive as well he showed us when some bird or animal appeared along the rout before to get our first Lodge, thanks to him we were able to see hundreds of birds included the ¡cock of the rock! The national bird of Peru which was very beautiful, along the river we saw Kapibaras as well also we saw aligators, snakes, macaws. In a afternoon we swim in the river which was cool, the river is very rough but the captain of the boat gave us life jackets to be safer while we swim. If there is some thing observe in this tour it was the long bus trip until you reach of beginning of the park and 8 or 9 hours to come back to Cusco apart of that everything was fine. At the end we would like to recommend Local Trekkers Peru to do the Manu National Park, you won’t Regret.Posted on Tripadvisor Jamie BVerified Terra Quechua Peru took care of everything from the first contact I traveled to Manu with my partner on the 5-day tour, and it was one of the best decisions of our trip to Peru. The agency was quick to respond, very attentive, and impeccably organized. The tour took us from Cusco to the lowland jungle, stopping at spectacular viewpoints, crossing rivers by boat, and exploring the jungle with a local guide who knew absolutely everything about the fauna and flora. We saw monkeys, macaws, tarantulas (yes, up close!), and an impressive number of birds. Sleeping in lodges surrounded by nature was magical, with the sounds of the jungle in the background. I loved disconnecting from the digital world for a few days. Highly recommended for those seeking real adventure in the Amazon.Posted on Tripadvisor Jolie AVerified Manu Reserved Zone with Local Trekkers Peru We traveled as a group of six friends in August, and our 6 days and 5 nights Manu National Park tour with Local Trekkers Peru was one of the most memorable adventures we’ve ever had. Everything was perfectly organized comfortable transport, clean and cozy lodges, and excellent coordination from start to finish. Our guide Nefi was fantastic! His knowledge of the rainforest, wildlife, and local communities was impressive. Thanks to his keen eye, we were lucky enough to spot a jaguar resting by the river a moment none of us will ever forget! He kept us safe, informed, and entertained the entire time. Our chef Paulino was also incredible. Every meal was fresh, tasty, and full of variety. One of our friends is vegetarian, and Paulino made sure to prepare delicious alternatives for him every day we were all amazed by his creativity, especially given the remote locations. The lodges were comfortable, clean, and beautifully surrounded by nature. Falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle was pure magic. This journey into Manu was everything we hoped for and more. Local Trekkers Peru exceeded our expectations with their professionalism, warmth, and genuine respect for nature. We can’t recommend them enough an unforgettable experience from start to finish!Posted on Tripadvisor michael mVerified 6 days in Manu park national reserved zone We did the 6 days trip in Manu reserved zone and it was perfect. We saw a jaguar, tapirs, giant river otters, so many monkeys and birds. It was magical. Had the best time.Posted on Tripadvisor Elenci VVerified Trip of a lifetime! Thankyou Local Trekkers Peru!! We have just done the 7 day Manu National Park Tour with LOCAL TREKKERS PERU. The tour for us was easily one of our favourite experiences during 6 months in Latin America. I chose the tour company after some internet research, and thought it wise to choose someone who was local and who had many years of experience doing Manu wildlife tours. For my girlfriend, father and me, the tour exceeded our expectations. We were lucky that Nefi our tour guide, as he was one of the friendliest, most knowledgeable, and well organised tour guides that we have met during our travels. He’s not only a birding expert, but incredible at spotting the park’s many mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects, including the rarest species, and his knowledge of their calls and behaviour seemed endless. His understanding of the flora seemed likewise. Spending many hours with these guys exploring the jungle was really great fun. We were lucky enough to see a big group of giant otters, 7 species of monkeys, capybaras, caiman, various snakes and frogs, more than 70 bird species, along with many cool insects, trees, flowers, fruits and seeds. We thought the Macaw lick was definitely worth the money, as we saw perhaps 100 on the day as well as many other parrots. The tapir lick was a fun addition, though we didn’t see any (we figure we’d already been very lucky). The food, transport and accommodation were excellent, and the people making all of this happen were always friendly and efficient. With only three of us, we were looked after exceedingly well, and the price was great value from our point of view. It was also easy to organise from a distance, as Alberto correspondance, was thorough and prompt. We would highly recommend this tour, and in particular this tour company Local Trekkers Peru.Posted on Tripadvisor Naylu UVerified Lifetime Experience with Local Trekkers. Upon our arrival in Cusco he met us at hotel and spent time going over our plans for our 6 days trip to the jungle of Manu, he emailed an itinerary and gave us a map. Our guide named Nefi who was fantastic, very knowledgable about wildlife and flora and fauna and great with our two children. We saw many different animals among them we saw, monkeys, turtles, snakes, kapibaras, aligators, giant river otters, an so on the only one we missed was the hidden Jaguar maybe the next time. Also in an afternoon we had the opportunity to swim in the river which was very relaxing and fun at the same time. Our Cook for the trip, Paulino were also superb and we could not fault the trip in any way. It was perfect. The food that these guys provided us amazing, a lot, hygienic, fresh, with a good taste, always very well decorated and enough for everyone was the best food we tried before in Peru. We spent 2 nights at casa matsiguenka where we learned a lot from this tribe, their customs, dances, dress and even they taught us to use the bow and arrow, this experience was Amazing my children had so much fun on this trip. With Local Trekkers Peru everything was perfect organized from start to finish, so if you are thinking to have a lifetime experience don’t hesitate to book with this company they always provide you the best.
